Hello everyone this is Breanna Rutter author of one of my most popular books The Natural Hair Bible and founder of Howtoblackhair.com these videos I love to answer the questions that you send me via email so any of you have any questions you like for me to answer be sure to check out the description box below for additional information. This video is because of an email that I received from TJ, TJ emailed me saying that she is getting ready for a triathlon so she's been training like crazy and the issue is that she doesn't know what to do with her hair or what kind of styles to wear because she also has to swim so she's constantly getting tangled and knots when trying to care for hair and then like she said on top of that she still has to work she still has kids to take care of and she has to keep up with her home so she just needs some help pretty much to make her hair of one less problem that she doesn't have to deal with so I have some tips for you and the first thing I'm going to say is that at least once a week you have to clarify your hair and you have to deep condition your hair and you have to seal in your moisture now depending on your regimen depending on how often you like to wash her hair because you're constantly going to be swimming and your being very active in things like that you want to minimize the amount of times you want to be handling your hair so that it doesn't become as equally demanding for you to take care of your hair so once a week clarify your hair with a sulfate shampoo, sulfate shampoo is only necessary under the conditions to rid your hair any product build up mineral buildup you know helping the chlorine of your hair and things like that as well as also product build if I havent said that but clarifying shampoo will take off all the grit and grime and things from the surface of your hair so that following up right after that you can get the most effects from your deep conditioning treatment now you should always use a deep conditioning treatment right after using a sulfate shampoo but even if you chose not to use it because if it's too harsh for you for your hair and its just not something that's helping you to maintain the moisture in your hair then just amp up your deep conditioning affects so that way your hair can stay moisturized after that seal with a heavy butter or oil of choice because you gotta do this before I suggest my next tip the reason why is because if you're using light oil or highly penetrable oils like olive oil coconut oil and avocado oil the thing is you may not be able to maintain moisturized hair for a long enough period of time as well as block out any additional minerals and things like that especially if you're swimming in a chlorine poor so after you use something like Shea butter or almond butter or mango butter things like that to put on your put that after your hair while it's wet after you do your deep conditioning so first clarify shampoo and all this is going to be done all at once and you only going to do this whole process once a week youre first going to wash her hair the clarifying shampoo then you follow that up with a deep conditioning treatment and then you're going to seal in that moisture in your hair with a heavy butter of choice now thats how youre going to maintain healthy and moisturized hair now after that you need to keep your hair in a style if you have free hair and you're constantly going in the pool its going to get tangled its going to get knots its going to get ratted its going to be a mess so if it is applicable for you you can wear extensions things like box braids patra braids I wouldnt suggest micro braids because the water can make the braids too heavy and pull on your delicate edges or your hairline and things like that because the braids are so tiny so I will suggest bigger braids like box braids a patra braids and also even cornrow braids now if you don't want to wear weave you can still do cornrow braids and individual braids with your own real hair as well just keep it wound up with a braid or twist so that way is not free and constantly getting tangled and matted things like that when you're swimming and being active such so all my tips have helped you and just make sure that once a week to do your regimen prepare your hair for the entire week so you won't have any issues and good luck with triathlon thanks email once again and I also want to thank you all for watching also before any of you go make sure to sign up for my email list because only there I update you with exclusive content as well as do giveaways so until then I will see all of my very next video
