How To Grow Long Hair For Black Women

Breanna Rutter

Pria is trying to grow long hair but being that it's so thick she can't help but keep it short for maintenance.

Hair Tip #1 Essential Oils like Rosemary, Peppermint, and Spearmint Increase Blood Flow

Essential oils speed up hair growth! When you apply essential oils to your scalp, they absorb very quickly into your scalp and penetrating multiple layers of your skin. For safe dosage, use 5 to 6 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil. Using carrier oils to dilute essential oils are a MUST because the strength of essential oils can cause your skin to scar or burn.

Hair Tip #2 Wear Hairstyles That Can Last Until Your Next Wash Day

Wash your hair according to the health of your hair and scalp whether it is once a week, twice a month or once a month. Make sure that you are using quality hair products like your shampoo, rinse conditioner, deep conditioner, moisturizers and more to help enforce the health of your hair. Refer to my book, The Black Hair Manual if you need help finding your best hair care products.

Hair Tip #3 Massage Your Scalp for 10 Minutes Before Washing and/or Styling

This is the easiest and product free way to increase hair growth and that is by simply messaging your scalp for at least 10 minutes before styling your hair. You can also message your scalp as you are shampooing or conditioning if that is more convenient for you. Use the pads of your fingers to message your scalp or a scalp massager tool so that your fingers don't get that annoying tingle feeling and to also prevent your fingers from looking because of the contact of moisture in your hair.
