What Are Protective Styles?

Breanna Rutter

Varonica asked this question because the styles she thought were protective, according to other naturals, aren't really protective so she is quite confused about it and wants to know what I think.

Protective Hairstyles are usually heat-free hairstyles concealed at the ends. There has been much confusion about what truly constitutes a protective style and by default, a protective style will encourage hair growth and length retention whether your ends are exposed or tucked within your hairstyle.

Do you think for example, a style like a twist out is less protective than two strand twists even though both of these hairstyles do not have tucked ends, why?
