Hello everyone this is Breanna rather author of one of my most popular books the natural hair Bible and founder of howtoblackhair.com these videos I love answer the question that you all send me via email so if any you have any questions you like the answer check out the description box below for more information this video is dedicated to an email I received from Kara Kara says that she's been suffering from having short hair ever since the age of 14 she only has within at least a year or two been able to see two inches of growth she knows that she probably needs to trim her ends is but she's really afraid of doing so because she's trying to grow her hair and what I am going to do is tell you how hair grows and how to retain length which is very important if you have length goals so first your hair is going to constantly grow no matter what you do is just a natural byproduct of you being a living organism a living individual so you are going to grow your hair unless there's something conflicting with your health that is causing you not to grow hair grows on average about half an inch a month which means that in a year you should be able to see about 6 inches of growth now for a lot of people they feel like that's slow just 6 inches in a year well that's the average rate of growth and if you want to increase it what you can do is you can actually eat a diet that's higher in protein and omega fats and things like that but the thing is that your hair is growing but your issue is that you are losing your ends so you're not able to retain length retaining length simply means that you are able to keep the length hat you have while constantly gaining a longer length of hair and the best and the only way you can do this is if you are trimming your ends your hair only grow two inches in a year or two so is because your ends are breaking off I don't know if you're not using current products onhair that is going to maintain the health of it but the only thing that seems to be missing from your regiment is trimming is was going to make you actually keep your ends healthy and actually gain more length you should not have just 2 inches of growth in a year that is crazy I don't know why so many people not only you but other people are afraid to trim their ends like they are going to lose their hair that is how you lose your hair just don't cut your ends if you don't want to have any here you gotta make sure that you keep the split ends away as it will continue to split from the bottom and cause you to be at a stagnant length other things you gotta make sure they are using quality -hair products is what like the second thing that I stress a lot is making sure that you are using ingredients and especially oils that are virgin or and cold pressed because it's able to penetrate the hair better and it is going to deliver more nutritional value to your hair because of the process required for these types of oils if you want to know all the information about how to choose your best product then check out my book the black hair manual if you want to learn more about that and through that book I also tell you is going to work best for your hair as well now another thing is that you got constantly just teach yourself the basics or reteach yourself the basics of haircare you should never hit this bump in the road where you are not gaining length because there's something you're doing that is causing it to happen you're either not trimming your ends not keeping your hair moisturized not using quality products or simply styling your hair too frequently or not protective styling enough so you already know the problem is your trims and that's what you need to do make sure to check out the videos that have already done about how to trim your ends is as well as posts that I have written on my website if you need help doing so so thanks for your email and thank you all for watching and for any of you go make sure to sign up to my email list because only there I update you with exclusive content and you can also be entered into giveaways that do so until then I will see all of you in my very next video
