Hello everyone this is Breanna Rutter author of one of my most popular books that natural hair Bible and founder of howtoblackhair.com for this video I will be answering an email that was sent to me from a Yolanda Yolanda emailed me saying that she's so afraid of going natural and only way she'll feel comfortable doing it is that she can trust the hairstylist to maintain her hair about once a week and she wonders if I have any suggestions for a reputable natural hair salon that she can go to to fulfill her needs so Yolanda thank you for your email and give you some suggestions as far as what to do to choosing your salon and also to chose the stylist that's best for you so my first tip that I want to say is that you just gotta go on and hit the Internet and look for some salons in your area that caters to natural hair now depending on your area you may not have many salons where you may have a plethora of salons so for first I would suggest that you search for natural hair salons in your area that has some reviews and things like that that you can read upon to see if it's a good choice or just search for just a hair salon that caters to your hair needs so even if the salon isn't necessarily specifically a natural hair salon you can still go to a regular salon and find someone who can give you what you need which leads me to my second tip is that you want to make sure that you chose a stylist out of the salon that works best with natural hair now just because someone is licensed doesn't mean that they will be able to provide what's best for you just like people and just like different taste and things like that we all specialize or lean towards certain things so there's some stylist in the salon that specialize in color there are some that specialize in cutting service specializing in weaving braiding natural hair so on and so forth so it is where to find a well-rounded stylist that can do everything with T but it's very common and normal to find a stylist that usually predominantly focuses on a certain thing as far as your hair need this doesn't mean that the stylist doesn't like doing other things this just means that this is this is the stylist strong suit so go to a stylist in a salon or consultant with one that best works with natural hair or their predominant choice of styling and performing services are geared towards natural hair and then this leads me to my last tip once you find a stylist or you have a couple of stylist that you're trying to choose from between whos going to be yours stylist that will be doing your hair weekly you want to make sure that you consult with them this is why consultations are very very important because you maybe work with a stylist that think that you want to have straight hair so they may always offer to do blow outs and straighten out your natural hair things like that and this may not be a goal some stylist may always suggest color to you because they love doing color so you just have to consult out with a stylist or these potential stylists that you are going to picking from to tell them what your concerns and needs are so whatever you want in regards to color in regards to treatments in regards to maintenance and styling things like that address this with your stylist and asked them if they can meet all these requirements for you because this is the way you would like to care for or take care of your natural hair for stylist feels like they are not able to meet that for you usually they're very open and honest to tell you that well maybe we shouldnt work together or i wouldnt be the best stylist for your specific needs and most times can suggest you to another stylist in the salon or you just have to start all over again research other salon in your area find a stylist that you think is potential and then make sure your consulting with them so that way they can actually meet your hair needs so thank you for your email and I think you have pretty good luck finding someone and not just continue searching and as well as doing it make sure you are constantly educating yourself about hair care what to do to maintain natural hair as always you can refer to my site for more information if you want to know more about that but on any who I want to thank you for watching and also for any of you go make sure to sign up for my email list so that way you can be entered into any giveaways that I do and also only there you can receive exclusive content so until then I will see all of you in my very next video
